Several very well-contested races were decided at the New Plymouth Amateur Swimming Club’s evening meeting at the New Plymouth municipal baths last night. Detailed results are:— Junior Boys’ 50 Yards.—R. Blair, 2sec., 1; B. Gay ton, scr., 2; M. Berg, 9sec., 3. Also started: P. Hifhnan 9sec., H. Watson 9sec. Junior Girls’ 50 Yards.—E. Carter, 3 sec., 1; J. Pepperell, scr., 2. Intermediate Girls’ 50 Yards.—D. Walker, 3sec., 1; A. Blair, Isec., 2; B. Pepperell, scr., 3. Intermediate Boys’ 100 Yards. —A. Ryan, scr., 1; B. Meredith, Ssec., 2. Senior Men’s 50 Yards. —First heat: T. Harper; 3sec., 1; D. Hetherington, 1 sec., 2; C. Allan, 4sec., 3. Also started: R. Gay ton scr., H. Watkins scr., F. Guzzwell Isec. Second heat: N. Lealand, ssec., 1; A. Hetherington, Isec., and R. Charters, 3sec., equal, 2; C. Shaw, scr., and L. Petty, Isec., equal, 4. Also started:'M. Neville 3sec., McKay 5 see. A very , good race. Garth Cup arrangements were made at a meeting of the cltib committee subsequently. Fitzroy’s and New Plymouth’s are the only entries received for the cup, which is for competition among junior polo teams, and the only game necessary to decide the winner' will be played at the . Ladies’ Life-Saving Club carnival on February 28. A sub-committee was set put to arrange Flaiihagn Cup matters. 'lt was decided to hold the 100 yards club championship at the club night next Monday. At a meeting of the er nliined clubs’ committee held later, matters in connection with the proposed picnic, the date of which clashes with the Tabor Shield fixture, were discussed, and although opinion favoured retaining the date selected, a further meeting is to be held to-night definitely to make a decisiop. . — ' —
