The police made a surprise raid on the headquarters of the Nazis and placed the sentries under provisional arrest. They set' guards over all telephones, ransacked the rooms, and took possession of papers. Simultaneously the homes of a score of the leaders in Berlin were raided, also the headquarters of many Mecklenburg towns. The leaders were arrested and escorted to Berlin.

The object is to secure conclusive evidence in support of the strong belief that the Hitlerites have an official organisation for smuggling across the frontier members accused of murder and other crimes. It is stated that the- police also obtained evidence establishing deliberate attempts to reduce Government officials and undermine the administration from within.
