MEETING OF COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the committee of the New Plymouth branch of the Plunket Society'-was held on Monday, There were present Mesdames I. M. Kidd (in the chair), D. LeC. Morgan, A. F. Sandford, R. E. Fairfax Cholmeley, A. J. Tunbridge, J. L. Mander, F. 'R. Masters, W. R. Wade, W. Clarke, G. S. Millar and the hon. secretary and treasurer (Mrs. C. S. Mayer). The nurses’ report for January was: Number of babies on the bbokp under 2 years old, 419, new for month 25, breast fed 21, supplemented 1, artificially fed. 3, visits paid to homes, 319, visitors to rooms, adults 432, babes 326, older children 130, advice on domestic hygiene 81, advice to expectant mothers 6, expectant mothers stiil under supervision 24, older children still under supervision 326, telephone calls 156, letters written and received 31. Waitara: Fiye visits, 62 old babes, 4 new. Inglewood: Four visits, 66 old babes, 1 new. Urenui: Two visits, 43 .old babes, 2
new. Mesdantes A. H. Featherstone, G. S. Millar, W. B. Hosking. and I. M. Kidd were appointed to arrange floral decorations from February 16 to March 13. The proposed picnic to have been held at Gilling, Bell Block, was on account of the earthquake disaster postponed indefinitely, and the meeting expressed sympathy with the sufferers in the stricken 3rea - -H k As in previous years a marquee will oe> provided at the showgrounds on March 4 and 5. Members of the committee will be in attendance 'both days. The tent will be for . the convenience of mothers and babies. The authorities are being asked that in the event of children becoming.lost they be brought to the Plunket tent The sum 'of £lO was voted to the Wan' ganui Stewart Karitane Hospital as the New Plymouth branch’s quota towards the annual maintenance expenses of the hospital. Nurse Cartwright applied for six months’ leave of absence to visit Canada and this was unanimously granted.
