OPENNESS IN CHEESE

HOME COMMITTEE WANTED. Palmerston N., Feb. 10. The position regarding open cheese on the London market was discussed at a meeting of the directors of the Tokomaru Dairy Company Ltd. yesterday, when the opinion was expressed by speakers that the New Zealand Dairy Control Board was not giving the desired thought to the serious cheese position, but only to the butter position. The following resolution was passed: cf Tliat a letter be sent to the Dairy Produce Export Control Board drawing its attention to the high retail price of 9d per lb for cheese in-England in comparison with the low wholesale price of 5Ad per lb, and complaining in regard to the apparent lack of interest by the board in the cheese position, and suggesting that a cheese committee be formed in London on the lines of the successful butter committee, with the object of stimulating the sales of New Zealand cheese on a reasonable retail basis.”
