RELIEF FOR SUFFERERS
RED CROSS AND ST. JOHN. Over 30 refugee families have been equipped with clothing and food by the New Plymouth Red Cross and St. John organisation, and ' medical aid has been arranged where required. Despite the fact that it. has been reported that no more c’r'Aing. is required, continued requests have been received for large quantities and the; organisation will be glad to- receive donations, especially men’s working and- underclothes, boys’ shorts, infants’ shawls, children’s shoes, women’s underclothing and linen and white stockings for hospital use. Over 50 cases‘-of clothing, bedding (all fumigated) food, etc., have been dispatched to Hawke’s Bay and Palmerston North." A substantial quantity of linen ware has been prepared and placed at the disposal of Miss Wise (Health Department) for maternity hospital use in the affected area. i Many willing workers attend at the depot for long hours daily, and all gifts are attended to at once.", Cash'donations now total £l4l 3s. 6d., the names of donors having already been published.
