The Sunday special train from Hawera yesterday morning brought a number of horses engaged at the Taranaki Jockey Club’s relief meeting at New Plymouth on Thursday and Saturday. The remaining outside horses should put in an appearance to-day. 5.# » #

Apart from W. Mantle’s team (Gold Dawn, Singer and Crennatown) and R. Johnson’s horses .(Th© Swell, Ridgcmourit and' Bell© Star), L. G. Morris (Fordell) arrived with Cashier, Consent arid High Falutin’. W. D. Moroney (Featherston) brought Vertigern and Tenterden, R. Biirgess (Masterton), brought Werata and H. Telford (Trentham) arrived with Malayan, Tea Queen and Open .Cheque.

The majority of these horses looked well after their racing at Hawera last week. Cashier will be ridden by H. N. Wiggins, in the Taranaki Cup, and “Snowy” Morris will take the mount on Consent in the Flying and Taranaki Stakes. *. # ♦

The New Plymouth sportsman, Mr. J. O’Driscoll, who faced Tawehi and Polyphemus with success over the battens in recent years, is reported, to have again joined the ranks of owners and is stated to havo picked up the four-year-old Acre—Myrtle Grove gelding Garrick. It is understood that Garrick will be tried over the smaller fences.

After a spell at her owner’s farm, the three-year-old filly Lady Lulu, a full sister to Valkori, has been taken in hand by J. Eva. When trained by E. George at New Plymouth Lady Lulu displayed speed, but did not run on too well. # • * «

A six-horse float yesterday afternoon brought Otairi, Democratic and Llandudno (L. Knapp, Awapuni), Rich Harvest (H. S.' Greene, Hastings), -Saltpot (E. Penman, Trenthani), and one of A.
