LONG JOURNEY OVER LAND. (British /Wireless). Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Feb. 6. Three Royal Air Force Rangoon flying boats left Felixstowe to-day on the first stage of a 3500 iriilep flight to Basra, in Iratj, where they will relieve three Southampton flying boats attached tb Squadron 203- Each of the RangOons is fitted with three Jupiter-Bristol engines, and the reliahce placed upon them Is such that a route involving large stretches of overland flying Will be followed. The longest land stretch is from Alexandretta to Baghdad, where the flying boats will alight on the Tigris.
