The Herald-Tribune in a leader entitled “New Zealand’s Disaster,” states: "New Zealanders, like Australians, always seemed closer to Americans than other folk, If there is any aid America can givri to. the stout-hearted people of New Zealand it will be given from a fuff heart”. .
