TEN PER CENT REDUCTION

AUSTRALIAN WAGES CUT COURT REFUSES POSTPONEMENT. DELAY WOULD BE DANGEROUS. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 9.15 p.m., Melbourne, Feb. 5. The Full Arbitration Court to-day dismissed the Commonwealth Government’s application for suspension for three months of the 10 per cent, cut in wages, which takes effect from February 1. In a unanimous judgment the court held that it was impossible, however desirous it might be to help the Government faced with heavy responsibilities, to so nullify its considered opinion that whatever might be .done to meet the present crisis there was up escape from a reduction of at least 10 per ceut. in wage standards. The court emphasised that any delay in bringing into operation the necessary reduction of wages would aggravate unemployment.
