MATAMATA RACE MEETING. 1 * ACCEPTANCES ANNOUNCED ■ i ' "t" By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Acceptances for the Matamata. Racing Club’s annual meeting on February 7 are: —• TIRAU HACK HURDLES HANDICAP. One mile, five furlongs and one chain.

GISBORNE RACING CLUB, ACCEPTORS FOR, FIRST DAY". Gisborne, Last Night. Th© following are the acceptances for 'th© first day of th© Gisborne Racing 'Club’s meeting; — TE HAP ARA HACK HANDICAP. Of 110 sovs. Six furlongs.

TAKAPUNA FIELDS TO-DAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Jan. 30. Acceptances for' th© second day of the Takapuna meeting are as follows: — . MOANA HANDICAP. . Seven furlongs.

PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY’S RACES. EASTER. TIME OVER SIN FURLONGS (By “Moturoa.”) Valmarie ran such a good second to Rafflight on the first day that she is sure to be in more demand than Good Idea and Leasehold in the Moana Handicap. With Luminary out of the Highweight Handicap the Brampton-Neill bracket will be a hot order over Glena Bay. A fine field of hacks is carded for the Wynyard Plate. Awamutu goes ’ very fast, but Catoma should be the pick of the older division. Biddy's Boy, Chief Joy, Jaeldy Karo, Karangapai, Orapai and Rosshi're are all smart three-year-olds, but Karangapai, Rosshire and Biddy’s Boy read like being the pick of the field.

Paganelli seems to have struck form again and in spite of his big weight must be given a chance in the Suburban Handicap. Leitrim is well and Eaglet and Gold Day would have to be considered if started. However, Paganelli, Eaglet and Leitrim will probably be the favourites.

Paganelli has won over a rail© but does not appeal greatly in the Jockey Club Handican run over a furlong further. Antique is in form,, .but Royal Doulton will be better suited by the shorter distance and makes more appeal than Lucy Rose and Antique. Chief Jewel is a newcomer in the Hobson Handicap and has proved to be a smart two-year-old. However, Easter Tim© gives every indication of running out the distance and should beat the top-weight and Royal Artist. Manawhenua did not start the first day and, at the difference in weights, makes more appeal in th© Rangitoto Handicap than Haviland and Smithfield. Reserved for th© Anniversary Handicap, Gold Day would be a hot favourite. In the absence of the first day’s winner Taneriri, King YVillonyx and Big Bertha will carry the money.
