The New . Zealand junior and intermediate swimming championships were commenced to-day in fine, dull weather. The meeting was successful from all aspects. In the second heat of’ the 100 wards junior girls R. Low (Canterbury) equalled the record (Imin. 16 2-asec.).

The championship results are:— 75 yards junior boys’ breaststroke. ■ W. Jarvis (Otago) 1, D. Thomas (Canterbury) 2, S. Jarvis (Otago) 3. The only starters. Won comfortably. Time, 66 l-ssec. 220 yards boys’ intermediate. —First heat: P. H. McGrath (Southland) 1, R. Geddes (Qtago), 2, G. Gleeson (Hawke’s Bay) 3. Also started: P. C. Eads (Manawatu), C.
