UNITED AGAINST GOVERNMENT.
WINSTONE CHURCHILL’S DECISION

Winston Churchill has sent a letter to Mr. Stanley Baldwin announcing that since the divergence of their views on Indian policy is now public he thinks he should not further attend meetings of Air. Baldwin’s business committee. He hopes their sincere differences regarding policy will not affect their friendship. Aleanwhile he will endeavour to do his utmost to secure the Socialist Government’s defeat at the next election.
Air. Baldwin expresses gratitude at the tone of the letter, extols Mr. Churchill’s decision a,nd welcomes his continued co-operation to turn out the Government, “Our friendship is now too deep-rooted to be affected by differences of opinion,” he states. “We have learned to appreciate each other’s good qualities and to be kindly indulgent to qualities less good, though in many diverse quarters wo are endowed with a double dose of original sin.”
