WAITARA SWIMMING CLUB
OPENING CLUB NIGHT OF SEASON.
The first club night of the season was held by the Waitara Swimming Club at the school baths on Thursday, when the. water was considerably warmer than the atmosphere. The opening was rather late in the season owing to the baths having till lately been closed for repairs. Four races, which attracted good entries, were held, and at the conclusion a dance was held at the Soldiers Club. A party of Fitzroy swimmers helped to make the evening successful. The officials were; Starter and call steward, Mr. H. R. Soffe; judges, Messrs. J. Devine and J. Watson; timekeeper, Mr. T. Fowler; secretary, Mr. G. Seiwood; steward, Mr. E. Lash. Results are: —
Men’s 50 Yards Handicap.—First heat: W. J. Thomas (F, Bsec.) 1, C. Tate (W, 2sec.) 2. Also started: H. St. George (W, scr.) and R. Allen (W, Ssec.). Second heat: T. G. Fowler (W, 4sec.) 1, H. J. Thomas (F, Isec.) 2. Also started: D. Woodhouse (W, 4sec.), A. Roberts and K. Vickery (VV, Osec.) Final: T. G. Fowler 1, A. Webb 2, W. J. Thomas 3. Time, 37 2-ssec. Men’s 25 Yards. —First heat: D.
