By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Two years of important research work tinder arrangements made by the Empire Marketing Board were completed to-day,, when Mr. William Davies, M-Se., whose services had been loaned to the plant' research station at this centre for that term, left? Palmerston North for England. Mr. Davies is returning to the post as chief officer of the agronomy department at the Aberystwyth plant breeding station in Wales. He is carrying back with him 200 samples of New Zealand grass seed. When Mr. Davies reaches England he will tspend six months in work at the Aberystwyth and Cambridge plant breeding stations and the animal nutrition station, Aberdeen, after which he will proceed to Kenya,, Rliodesia and various parts of South Africa before returning to Great Britain to make preparations for further studies, which he will carry on in Queensland. Subsequently he will go to Canada.

Mr. Davies stated the object of this chain of research work was to-familiar-ise with one another investigations being carried out in various parts of the Empire. An important aspect of the situation, proceeded' Mr. Davies, was that during the next five years New Zealand would have an unprecedented opportunity to develop the grass seed trade before its potentialities were realised by others.
