WOOL MARKET IMPROVES
BETTER TONE AT LONDON SALE FAIR BUSINESS AT BRADFORD. By Telegraph—Tjress Assn.—Copyright. London, January 29. At the wool sales 8757 bales were offered, of which 4156 were from New Zealand. Approximately 7.815 bales were sold. There was a medium offering of Merinos and an excellent supply of grea'sy and slipes. The market showed a strong tone and there was keen competition at prices 5 to 71 per cent, above the opening rates. Quotations are: New Zealand greasy crossbreds, Tutiti, top Bd., average 7d.; Rock, top 6>}d., average 6d.; Hiku, top 7d., average 6jd.; Makiri, top 6Jd., average 6d.
Bradford advanced sharply in sympathy with London, and fair business is passing. The general opinion is that the reaction is too sudden. Quotations: 64’s 21d.; 60’s 18jd.; 56’s 14d.; 50’s Hid.; 46’s 9Jd.; 40’s 9Jd.
