The State Cabinet to-day dealt with the question of unemployment relief work and the rates and conditions for ■all trades. A wage increase was agreed upon and the 40-hour week was reduced •to 35 hours. The Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, stated that the Government had definitely decided that there would be no alteration in the closing hours of hotels. An increase in stamp duties and death duties was agreed upon at the Cabinet meeting. The Government also decided to raise additional revenue by means of a special tax on petrol pumps.
