EXPLOSION ON TRICOLOR

FINDINGS AT THE INQUIRY.

GASES BELIEVED TO BE CAUSE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Singapore, January 14. A consular inquiry, with assessors, was held into the loss of the Tricolor. Private findings were issued that the ship carried considerable quantities of chemicals, of which one or more, being heated through a fire starting in No. 3 hold, rapidly gave-off gases which, either singly or combined, exploded and destroyed the ship. No evidence was produced that arms or ammunition were carried, except a small quantity in the strong-room, which was far removed from the seat of the original fire.
