MANAWATU CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Telegraph.—Press Association, x Palmerston N., Last Night. The Manawatu tennis championships were concluded to-day with the exception of the combined doubles. The singles title went to A. C. Stedman (Auckland), who defeated N. R. C. Wilson (Wellington) in straight sets. ; Miss Dulcie Nicholls (Wellington) proved too aggresive for Miss B- Knight (Auckland) ( winning the ladies’ singles in straight, sets. Wilson and Stedman completely oucclassed' Court (Dunedin) and Proctor (Foxton) in the men’s doubles. Mrs. Ramsay (Wellington) and Miss Nicholls beat Misses Knight and Lindsay (Auckland) in the ladies’ doubles. The finalists in the combined doubles are Stedman and Miss Gibson (Timaru) and Wilson and Miss Nicholls.
