GUY MENZIES’ PARTNER

PLAN TO TOUR NEW ZEALAND. PROPOSED FLIGHT TO JAPAN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ■Wellington, January 13. Mr. Albert E. James,, part-owner of the Southern Cross Junior, arrived by the Marama from. Sydney. He will accompany Mr. Guy. Menzies on his New Zealand tour with the machine. ■ His tribute to Menzies was that, it-was a magnificent flight. “Guy is a tiger,” he said. He repeated that he had no intimation that the flight was to New Zealand till after the hop-off. Questioned regarding the proposed flight to Japan, he said it had been carefully thought out. When the plane returned to Sydney it might be fitted with floats, or a land under-carriage might be used as far as Darwin or Wyndham. At either of these places floats would be fitted.

The flight was planned in easy stages, taking hops of about 250 miles each. Mr. James has a spare propellor for the Southern Cross and a bag of spare parts. He will be a participant in the flight to Japan.
