MEN SAID TO BE STARVING
UNEMPLOYMENT AT DUNEDIN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, January 13. The Mayor to-day wired the Unemployment Board that he understood that 700 men were on the unemployed register. The position was desperate. The men would prefer work to sustenance payments, and he suggested that the board authorise at least £2OOO for work. The relief depot has been closed and consequently men are starving.
