1 Because work for-300. which had been promised did not eventuate, an ugly situation developed at the Government this morning.
For over two hours hundreds of men, who had assembled in the yard at the’ back of the office, blocked all the exits and • would- not allow the staff of the bureau io leave the premises. Numbers of them* shouted angrily, asking reasons for the delay. .‘ .Order, was eventually restored when an official said that a telegram from Wellington was expected this afternoon. ‘
