The State Governments threat fp abolish rationing of labour was the subject of a heart-torheart talk to-day between employers’ representatives and the Minister of Labour, Mr. J. M. Baddeley. It was stated a business slump was expected in February, and if thp Government insisted on doing away with rationing 26,000 employees in manufacturing industries and shopp would lose employment early in the year. Mr. Baddeley’ promised to place the matter before his Cabinet colleagues. At the same time he expressed disapproval of the way in which rationing already was being carried out by some employers.
