EXERCISES IN. TROOP CARRYING.

Three Vickers-Victoriaaeroplanes of No. 216 Squadron, stationed at Heliopolis, will begin a service flight to Capetown on January -12.1 The machines are . of the type which evacuated Europeans from Kabul during-the ’trouble iu Af- .' ghanistan last year. In the course of the flight tliey will ’go -through, troop .; carrying exercises at .three of their. halts. This will be the' first occasion on which African native troops have been transported by air. •; /■ ;? ■ . Each-machine is fitted with two Napier Lion 420 hoise-power engines arid is capabb of carrying 2J : soldiers; and. their y equipment. , With a full load, the machines have a cruising speed of about 80 miles an ‘hour and' a range ,of nearly . ■5OO miles.
