HAWERA SWIMMING CLUB
• DECISION TO CHANGE COLOURS.
The’ decision to change the Hawera Swimming Club’s colours from navy and royal blue .to black with a suitable gold badge was made after considerable dis? : cussion at a general meeting of the dub last, night. Mr. A. W. Lawn presided over a good attendance.
After the. meeting a short programme of swimming events was contested. Results are:— ’’ .
Girls’ 25 yards. —J. Beamish (4sec) 1, Betty Smith (scr) 2. Men’s 25 yards. —I. Jobson (scr) 1, M. ./•' Spavin (2sec) C. Dowdle (scr) 3. Eight started. Relay race.— Miss E. Nelsen’s team (M. ?- R. Nelson, G. McGlashan, C. Fowler, C. Dowdle, Mies. Nelsen) 1, Miss Ryan’s team 2. ’ At an enjoyable dance in the Savoy the certificates won at the Taranaki . championship meeting last season were .A presented by Mrs. E. Higgs. Mr. Lawn referred to the success of the season and ■ongratulated the winners. ST. JOSEPH’S SCHOOL YEAR. Marking the conclusion of a success- ■' ful year, children of St. Joseph’s Con- . vent School, Hawera, last night pre- '■' sented their annual concert. A varied ‘•• programme executed, with considerable ■V talent was much appreciated by the large audience. i’i St. Joseph’s Hall was far too small ’ for the attendance, which spoke vol- ' umes for the work of the sisters and ■ •'-the aptitude of their pupils. From in»4; fants to seniors every class contributed > excellent items, the performance being crowned by a delightful operetta.
