Eltham had held it for the past four years. Matapu, which held the Bennett and Sutton Cup since 1926-27 and won it outright last year, annexed the newly- ■ presented Bennett and Sutton Shield, which cannot be won outright. Eleven schools competed for the banner while seven contended the shield, there being about 400 entries.
