Francis Joseph Hanrahan was fined £35 and his wife was fined £aj?’’for selling liquor without a license" The police stated that the male defendant was before the court, last ’Friday on a similar charge. The premises had been raided twice, and 38 bottles of beer and other liquor seized. . ’ Counsel pleaded guilty, explaining that .defendant had .been agent for a Christchurch hotel and acted under a misapprehension as to his rights, ;.. . Defendants were allowed .two weeks to find the money.
