On the eve of Saint Nicholas Day, Which is celebrated like Christmhs in parts of Belgium, Madame Thery, living with her uncle, put to bed her five children, whose ages ranged from f&ven months to six years. She lit a -gas heater in order to warm the room and returned later to fill the Christmas' stockings. She found the heater, extin-o-uished and the room filled with gas. All the children were suffocated. . She was admitted to hospital distraught, after vain efforts to revive thefii.
