In the House of Commons Mr. W. Everard (Conservative) inquired whether in the interests of economy and in orde» to set an example to the country, the Government would appoint a select committee to inquire into a 12% per cent, reduction in members salaries. . Mr. MacDonald replied that salaries fixed in 1911 cannot now be regarded as more than adequate.
