THEFT CHARGE ADMITTED
CHRISTCHURCH MAN SENTENCED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Dec. 4. Thirlwall King Hayward admitted in the Magistrate's Court that he had committed two thefts from a lodger’s room at the Stonehurst private hotel while boarding there, and he also pleaded guilty to a charge of obtaining money by false pretences. He was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment on the charge of false pretences and three months’ imprisonment on each of the other two charges. Hayward gave his age as 30 and occupation as salesman. He had been living at a fast rate .and drinking to excess, said the probation officer.
