The lono- trip to New Plymouth debarred some southern members from attending regularly. r " , In view of the loyalty shown by the Stratford Association Mr. W. H.- Skim her supported the motion. Mr. Kennedy considered that it would be more satisfactory to commence a branch of the association at HaWera and stimulate interest in that district. Mr. E. Marfell supported Mr. Fletcher's suggestion. In view .bf the New Zealand annual conference being held at Wanganui it was resolved'to hold the first meeting of the New Year at Stratford. The Stratford, members were asked to attend to the local arrangements and the interesting of Hawera justices. Other matters were left to the registrar. I’t was stated that Mr. C. H. Weston would address the first meeting. The advisability, of having legislation enacted to make hospital board fees the first charge upon insurance payments was discussed at some length but no action was taken as it was considered that it was outside the association’s province to pass any resolution. Mr. Tate pointed out that at present the association was hardly in a position' to take any action until, the

hospital boards took the initiative and asked for support. In answer to a question by Mr. Gibson the chairman stated that any motorist or other person was entitled to report to' the police any instances of motoring offences personally witnessed.
