WEATHER IN NEW PLYMOUTH
UNSEASONABLE NOVEMBER. - Constant high winds, sometimes ipg g Jo force, and driving showers of rain or hail made the weather in November most. unseasonable, says the report of the official meteorologist at New Plymouth. The temperatures, were much below the average, wltlj the result that growth in paddocks and gardens was very slow. Although the showers were .frequent there was no very heavy fplh The total fall for the year has been 5g.72 inches, compared with 53.06 last year. The 50 years mean for the month is 4.65 inches, and for the first 1J months 58.02 inches,
Temperature records for the month were: Mean 54.5deg.' (last year mean 58.3 deg.). The highest shade tpmpeyatur© was 63.5 deg. and the lowest 41.7 deg. (69.6 deg. and 46.9 deg. last year). The mean minimum on the grass was 44.9 deg. (last year 47.9 deg.), and the lowest 33.4 deg. Bright fiunahfiie recorded was 177 A hours, which exceeded . th« ifll hour# of last year, but was far behind the 259 hours of 1928. The moan for 50 years is 209 hours.
The wind reached gale - force on the 11th (south-west) and on the 20th (north-west), and was generally unpleasantly strong, On 21 days the prevailing winds were'between north-west and south-west. i.
