A party of four in two bonito canoes were out fishing when- a gale with unusual suddenness lashed the sea into a fury and brought down A blinding rain-' storm. The party with all haste \ set back fpr th© passage into th© lagoon, but in the attempt both canoes were swamped apd quickly curried out to §ea by the Strong current. The watching villagers on shore quickly went to the rescue and were able to pick up tin©© survivors of the catastrophe, says the Samoa Herald, but one chief, Lemalu-Filjflli, has not beep found, though a continual search has beep made, The rescued were Chief.
