RACING CAR SOMERSAULTS
YOUNG MECHANIC GRAVELY HURT. CRASH ON AUCKLAND SPEEDWAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A motor mechanic William Simmonds, aged 21, Onehunga, was seriously injured and his companion had a narrow escape from injury when a racing car travelling at 80 miles an hour capsized at Henning’s speedway, Mangere, about 6 o’clock to-night. The injured man was taken to the Auckland hospital where he underwent an operation. His condition is reported as very serious. The car somersaulted twice.
