ELTHAM PICTURE FEATURE. When “The Czar of Broadway” shows at the’Eltham Theatre to-night it will be everybody’s privilege to witness one of the most thrilling dramas of the underworld ever presented. It will show to the layman just, what makes the wheels go around in the vast political organisation manipulated by people who live by their wits. It will show Betty Compson in the type of part which she had made famous on the screen, lhe story is designed to tear the mask on the underworld and present a gentleman of the respected social set dipping his fingers in the ugly mess ot gangster politics, winch involves gambling, bootlegging and murder. It is this o-entleinan, played by. John Wiay, who maintains a suite of offices, on the top floor of his own office building and who regulates the movements of the citys political machine.. A little side business which is maintained by the big boss is a speakeasy. It offers him a place in which to meet his friends, and make hi s plans for the movement of his political machine. The. underworld is a subject which been dealt with in numerous stories, but has never been approached from the angle which is presented in "The Czar of Broadway.
