DAIRY PRODUCE PRICES

' MARKETS WEAK AND SLOW. The London butter market is weak with prices ranging from 108 s for some firsts to 114 s for New Zealand finest. These prices are slightly lower than those ruling last week, when choicest salted was quoted as high as 110 s. Varying reports of the cheese market indicate that selling is steady to slow, prices being somewhat below those of the previous week. White cheese is quoted at 73s and 74s per cwt., while coloured varies between 70s and 72s per cwt. In some cases there is a drop of 2s on the previous week’s market prices for white cheese.

The butter market is weak with prices at 112 s to 114 s for finest and 108 s for firsts states a report received by Joseph Nathan and Co. Ltd. from their- principals, Messrs. Trengrouse and Nathan Ltd. The cheese market is steady with white selling at 74s and coloured at 70s.

The London house of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd. reports that on October 29 the markets for butter and cheese were very slow. They give the following prices with the previous week’s figures in parentheses: Butter, New Zealand choicest salted, 112 s to 114 s per cwt (112 s to 116 s). Cheese, white 74s per cwt (765); coloured 72s per cwt (725). The butter market is very slow and the cheese market quiet, states a cable received by Mr. E. Griffiths from his London principals, Messrs, A. J. Mills and Co. Butter quotations are as follow, with ’stored 2s to 4s less: New Zealand finest 114 s, firsts llfls, Danish 150 s to 1525, Australian 106 s to 110 s. Cheese prices are: New Zealand white 73s to 74s per cwt, coloured 70s to 71s, Canadian white 74s to 755, coloured 74s to 755.

The market shows a lowering tendency all round, states a cable from Lonsdales dated October 30, received by Turner and Co. Danish butter is quoted at 148 s, New Zealand at UOs to 114 s, Australian from 108 s. to 110 s. The Australian No-vember-December shipment is priced at 96 c.i.f. The cheese market is slow, white being quoted at 73s and coloured at 70s.
