The public should not experience any great difficulty in sorting out winners at the Carterton meeting to-day with form well exposed at the Masterton and Wellington gatherings. (Mythology ran a good third to Tobaccoland at Masterton, and that form reads well. General Assembly, Intruder, Half Acre, Joie de Vai and Dignified Marqh have all shown pace, but the actual favourite promises to be MYTHOLOGY.

A re-handicap of 51b should not worry (Playground Ito. any extent, and the Acre gelding showed at Trentham that he was a class above the ordinary backs. Tunbridge runs a fair mile and so does Ben Hur, but it looks as if an odds-on price will have to be accepted about PLAYGROUND.

In form, one Could not look past iSpearmiss. She appears to be improving and ran a fair race at Trentham. Balloon scored at Masterton and Marjoram was second to Love Song at Trentham. Miss Ransom is being freely discussed for this, race, but she has not yet been beyond seven furlongs, though there is no reason why she should not run out the full distance. Billion, Full Mark and Duellona all have chances in this weak field, but most appeal is made by MARJORAM SPEARMISS

CARTERTON HACK HANDICAP. Of 120 sovs. Six furlongs.

Tpbaccolaml has gone up 16to for his two wins at Trentham, but he will find this company very much weaker, especially if Hunting Call is reserved for the final event. Lady Bene is consistent, but in the absence of Hunting Cali, it may be Tea Queen that will worry •, TOBAOCOLAND.

BUNNY MEMORIAL. °

This is a good, even field and the ■winner looks well concealed. Staghunter does not appear to like the heavy going and ran badly at Trentham. Mandy, though trained on a private track, may not be quite forward enough to show her best. Malayan beat the crackerjacks at Trentham and a repetition of that form would make him, the best of good things.. -He begins well 'and this turning course should suit him. Veronese reads, the best the lightweights, but 'the favourite looks like being ?.X ■ - MALAYAN. - ’ TARATAHI HACK HANDICAP.

An- extra 101 b should not trouble Arrowzone, who has struck form at last. He beat a good field at Trentham and ran a solid tjiird the second day of the races. Dainty Ways has been consistent lately and Goldlike is coming back to form again. Cluny, Ben Hur and Tea Queen are not without chances, but Dainty Ways should offer most opposition to ■

ARROWZONE. There is a select field in the

Habit scored decisively at Masterton and she has only 81b more to carry. The race at Opaki should improve her. Atholspear should be a better horse for his recent racing and he is a useful sort when in form. The remainder do mot threaten (danger and the winner will have to beat HABIT. ELECTRIC HACK HANDICAP.

■Reserved for this race, the public will' not look far past Hunting Call, who •won over this distance at Masterton. Baskier runs a smart five and so does Va'lrewa, but it is hard to see either beating

HUNTING CALL.

At Banks Peninsula. Kakara won at Rangiora on Monday and will not be eligible for the Trial ■Stakes, but the form shown by Bay Queen, NIGHT RECITAL and Winsome Hind should assure them most support. Fresh from Sydney victories, GAY CREST, in spite of his 9.7, will be a hot order for the Akaroa Handicap. It is probable that Spoon and Desert Song will be next in demand.

The Halswcll Handicap will not be easy to sort out, but HOMECOMING won at Tiniaru and Craigavon and Night Recital also go fast. The Le Bons Handicap is the open sprint and has. drawn some good class horses. Great Star failed badly at Rangiora, but Arrowinir is back to form and must go well. Greenaway is a smart sprinter and Gay Sonnet can go fast. Charmeuse is not without chances and Thurso won this race last year. However, it is hard to look past horses of the calibre of ARiROWMIR and Greena.ivasu —

In the Kaituna Handicap Audience, Fresh Breeze, Quinopal and Rapina have all given indications of running out a mile. RAPINA is nicely weighted and may find more friends than Audience and Quinopal. The final galloping event on the programme is the Brackenfield Handicap. Reserved for . this race OHARIMEUSE would be at a very short price. In her absence the public will depend on SAPIENT and Arrowmaid.

At Poverty Bay. Tire Alatawhero Handicap should suit Bold Front, but OUTFIT, and Autumn Sun should keep him busy. The Hastings jumper KAOKAOROA will not pay such a good price in the hurdles to-day, and Thursday’s form again points to Tall Timber as next best. •

Royal Songster has. struck form jagaan, but'NABU may be too good for him’ at a difference of four pounds in the Waikahae Handicap, HUNTINGDON did not'start the first day, but he is brilliant over five furlongs, and the son of. Hunting Song may be too good for Manawhenua in the Juvenile Stakes. Back to form again NANCY LEE should take a power of beating in the Makaraka Handicap, and she may find most opposition coming from Singleton, who should be improved by his race the first day. The Maiden Handicap should give FULL CROP a chance to win a race, though Abbeydale and Lady Spy will keep the half-brother to Singleton on the liiove; .. , . . '. Form shown earlier in the .day will influence the bettors in. the. Waimata' Handicap. Autumn Sun, OUTFIT and Manawhenua will find a host of supporters if started. ■ . .■ The Farewell Handicap will give KING WANGA a chance to repeat his last'year’s performance. Valsier and Kinsel may fill the minor places.
