NEW PLYMOUTH ■ WRESTLING. NOTEWORTHY BOUT. TO-NIGHT. The New Plymouth Wrestling Association will make its second venture tonight with the matching of Abe Coleman (America)- and Fred Ebert (Aystria). Both men have shown excellent form recently, and they should provide a lively bout. Coleman in his contest with Tom Ray at Stratford displayed remarkable which, coupled with a -weight of - I4st, is something to be contended with, Of Ebert, the Austrian, little need be said. He has wrestled consistently of late; with the luck a little against him;- -but always he has proved conscientious, clever and strong. Coleman,' known as the “Four-by-Two,” because of his extraordinary physical development, -is the only Jewish heavyweight wrestler in the world. His special hold is the flying tackle, after the stylo of . the renowned Gus Sonnenburg. The same school of wrestling that produced Sonnenberg, Everett Marshall and John Spellman, the gridiron of an American university, produced this dynamic young gladiator, whose everlasting aggressiveness is his forte. He has fought many tough battles in America, and in most instances lias prevailed by reason of his superior strength and stamina. . Describing Coleman’s debut, an American writer states:' “A new star flashed across the horizon of American wrestling last night, dazzling 2000 Salt Rivet Vab ley mat fans with its brilliance, -when Abe Coleman, 23-year-old Jewish boy from Brooklyn, wrestled his third bout as A full-fledged .heavyweight and defeated. George Kdteonarbs, ranking. Greek title, contender, at Phoenix, • Madison Square Garden. And George Kotsonaros never, wrestled a greater match in his life aS he did against this surprising little giant, rightly known as the Jewish Hercules. It was only the uncanny ability of Coleman to take punishment, his. bulldog tactics and his endurance that won for him.” . Something can be expected when Ebert and Coleman clash.
