REGIMENTAL BAND

ENJOYABLE CONCERT GIVEN. An enjoyable concert was given by the Regimental lland in the Empire Theatre, New Plymouth, last night under the conductorship of Lieutenant F. W. G. McLeod. In spite of the wretched weather conditions there was a large and appreciative attendance. The programme was as follows: Band march, “Mephistopheles”; soprano solo, Madame Veta Cornwall, “Waiata Poi”; hymn by the band, “Rochdale”; baritone solo, Mr. Francis Cornwall, “Song of Thanksgiving”; band overture, “The Golden Lyre”; contralto solo, Miss Jessie Smith (Melbourne, one of, 3LO’s artists), “Danny Boy”; cornet duet, Corporal Gordon Nunns and Bandsman R. A. Taylor, “Ida and Dot”; vocal duet, “Solenne in Quest’ Ora,” Messrs. Francis Cornwall and Bert Stewart; band selection, “Soldier Memories”; contralto solo, Miss Jessie Smith, “In an Oldfashioned Town”; band selection, “High Ways Are Happy Ways”; tenor solo, Mr. Bert Stewart, “Thank God For a Garden”; humoresque, “The Policeman’s Holiday,” by the band; vocal duet, Madame Veta and Mr. Francis Cornwall, “Rose of My Heart”; band march, “Yeomen of the King.”
