ANNUAL METING OF BAND. The annual meeting of the Kaponga Brass Band wits held in the town hall on Monday evening last. .Mr. C. H. Brewer presided over an attendance of 18 to 20 members and supporters. The bandmaster, Mr. P. Thoumine, reported;— During the year 68 practices were held, and, ou thfe whole, were well attended. The campaign far funds to clear off the debt on the uniforms was very successful, and I am pleased to state that this debt has now been liquidated, The fact that thH-amount, some £2OO odd, was raised within two years, speaks volumes for the generosity of the town and district. To dll those who assisted to raise this amount, with special reference to the social committee the band extends its sincere thanks. Carolling during* Christmas was carried out at Mahoe, Rowah, Kaptini, Riverlea, Mungatokl and Kaponga, a liberal response being met With at each place. During the year the band played out in the streets on several Saturday nights and was well received. Iu March ldst We attended the contest at Elthum. For. various reasons we wore able only to enter in the quickstep competition, in which the band put up a good performance and gained second place. I would like to place on record my appreciation of the services rendered to the band by the Stratford members. The thanks of the band are due to the Kaponga Town Board for the many courtesies extended to us throughout the year, and also to Mr. F. Seat, of Stratford, for the Valuable services rendered. The statement of accounts showed a credit balance of £3 13s. fid,, there, being no liabilities outstanding. The following were elected officers for the ensiling year;—Patron. Dr. J. I. R. Gray; president, D. P. F. Malone; six vice-presi-dents were elected; Secretary aiid treasurer, S. A. Wells; auditor, 0. A. Corder; banking account trustees, S. Wells and IL Pascoe; bandmaster, P. Thoumine (re-elected); deputy bandmaster and sergeant, 1L Pascoe; dritm-unujof, S. Wells; Corporal, H. Albon; lance-cor-poral, A. Wills; delegate to Taranaki Band Union, Mr. F. Kear; executive committee. F< Kear, K. Williams, A. Wills. R. Pascoe, W. Harris, A. Heydon, A. Freeman; social committee, C. 11. Brewer. K. Williams, A. H, Fraser, J. Tatiersall, S. Death and E. W. Blackwell. Thanks were expressed to the. ladies for assistance in entertaining visiting bandsmen. The advisability of holding sacred concerts on Sunday evenings during the slimmer months was left to the executive. it was decided that members weekly subscriptions remain as at present. Votes of thanks to the chair, to outgoing officers, all those who had assisted the band during the past year, and to the Pfess 'were carried.
