ADDITIONAL STAFF QUARTERS.

QUESTION OF SUBSIDY FOR WORK,

The Patea Hospital Board held its monthly meeting yesterday. There were present Messrs. C. R. Honeyfield (chairman), 0. Johnston, W. Back, A. T. Christensen, R. J. Watt, H. Middleton, R. G. Scown and J. Lupton. Dr. Simmons reported as follows for September: —In-patients at the beginning of the month, males 12, females 18, total 30; patients admitted, 20, 14, 34; patients discharged J 5, 10, 25; patients remaining 15, 22, 37. The Health Department advised that the Treasury could not agree to. the board’s suggestion that, in the event of the maternity ward fund being used in erecting additional accommodation for the staff, subsidy on the expenditure be paid next year, _ ; It was decided to defer consideration of the' matte? pending the visit of the Acting-Prime Minister, Plans for the cottage -op Mcßroom’s farm were submitted to the meeting. It was decided that the phairman and Mr. Christensen, together with the- District Public Trustee, -.be a committee to deal with the tenders.

The visitipg committe recommended that the old cottage at the hospital be painted and repaired. Messrs. Baek and Middleton were appointed a visiting committee.
