Hartland received painful burns on the arms and body. She was washing curtains in benzine near a washhouse copper fire, the radiating heiit firing the benzine. Fortunately, iier husband was nearby and enveloped,his wife, in a rug, smothering the flaming clothing. The washhouse was slightly damaged.
