RAILWAY WEIGHBRIDGES

ACCURACY QUESTIONED. Th-! accuracy of the Railway Department's weighbridge weights was questi.med at a. meeting of the Auckland Rower Board yesterday. The g erteral .manager, Air. R. H. Bartley, said that he had had occasion recently to query, the weights of coal being received by the board, and he had every reason To believe that the weights charged for were not actually received by the board. Mr. Bartley said that this was due to the fact that all coal was paid for cn railway weighbridge weights, and considerable variation existed between different railway weighbridges, which were not subject to tests and examination by the Weights and Measures Department. He stated that he had stil further inquiries to make in connection with the matter, and lie would advise the board at a later date upon the result of his investigations.
