AFTER FIFTY YEARS. AUSTRALIAN’S VAIN QUEST. Mr. William Taylor, aged 71 years, returned to Sydney recently-after a fruitless search for his four brothers and two sisters, whom he left in England 50 years ago when he went to Australia to seek his fortune. Mr. Taylor reached Melbourne in a sailing ship in 1880, and shortly afterwards went to New South Wales, where he remained until last year. He was a puntman on the Harwood Island ferry for 24 years. When he had accumulated some money he determined to return to England to see his brothers and sisters again. On his arrival in London Mr. Taylor went straight to the East End, where his family had lived. He inquired at their old housed where he found none of his relations, fie searched for days and finally found one of his nephews working in a post office. The nephew did not know the whereabouts of any of his aunts or uncles, and said that his father had been killed in France in the war period.
