Captain Matthews, who is making an ittempt in a De Havilland Puss Moth ;o beat Hinkler’s record of 15J days from England to Australia, reached Karachi ast night and left this morning on the lext stage. Although delayed for 24 hours at Bel;rade by bad weather he has now made ip the lost time, partly by a night flight ’rom Bagdad to Jask, which he reached it 2 o’clock in the morning, starting igain for Karachi two hours later. He s ahead of Hinkler’s time, but not of diss Amy Johnson’s for the distance so ar covered. A later message states that Captain Matthews arrived at Allahabad and would leave for Calcutta on Wednesday.
