MAN FOUND HANGING
. FATALITY ON MIDHIRST FARM. DEATH OF MARRIED ASSISTANT.A married man, Andrew Williamson, 31 years of age, was found' yesterday morning hanging from a tree in a creek bed on the farm of his employer, Mr. A. W. Mapp, Radnor Road, Midhirst. Williamson was then dead, his neck being broken. He leaves a widow, who •is believed to reside in North Taranaki, and it is understood there are two small children. Williamson had been employed jy Mr. Mapp as a farm assistant tor -he past two months, but prior to that had worked periodically on the same farm. He had not been" well lately and on Monday complained to his employer of internal pains. Yesterday morning, it ie> stated, he suffered from a pain in his head. Mr. Mapp had no reason to suppose the trouble was serious, however, and Williamson did ' the milking in his usual spirits. Mr. Mapp left for the factory about. 8.15 a.m. after telling Williamson to wash the shed and clean the machines, but on his return just before nine o'clock he noticed the work had not Williamson had not gone to the house for breakfast nor had he been seen about the place. Mr. Mapp made a perfunctory search and then organised a search party. , About ten' o’clock, in company with Messrs M. Davis and H. Wall, Mr. Mapp found the body hanging from a tree. The place was well screened from observation, being in a small gully behind the cowshed, where scrub on the banks made' access difficult.
An inquest will be held at Stratlord to-day.
