BALL AT KAIMATA HALL

■GREAT SUCCESS ACHIEVED. With its walls' embowered in punga fern and the ceiling canopied with variecoloured streamers through which delicately shaded electric.'lights diffused a soft g’lows tlio Kaniicitci hull last, night had been transformed by. the spinsters and bachelors of tlie district into a festive scene befitting the occasion. It was their annual ball and the crowd of young people that assembled from all parts of the district and from as far away as Purangi and l New Plymouth spent, a memorable evening. Special attention had been paid to the floor. Boulton Dance .Band provided the music. Dlr. N. Bracegirdle was master of ceremonies. The young ladies of the district had given care to the preparation of the 'supper. The supper room was decorated in keeping with the - sche.me of the hall, the "tables being graced with a display of bulbs that would have done credit to a show. Supper extras were played by Misses K. Lariner, Goodwin and Mr. L. Davidson. -A number of novelty competitions were held, ineluding a lucky spot waltz, the winners being Miss B. Jones and Mr. R. Adlam; and a -Moijte Carlo, the winners being Miss R. Trass and Mr. E. Boeock. . The committee responsible comprised Misses I. Herlihy, IS. Hcrlihy, E. Klem ner, E. Dobson, E. Knofflock, Messrs. E. Bocock (chairman), G. Clarke and D. Dobson. Miss E. Egavr and Mr. R. rdenner were joint secretaries.
