The application of Ceell lluzlett, sbeep-farnier of North Taicri, tor a wnt of habeas corpus to secure his release from llotoroit inebriates’ island, was dismissed by Mr. Justice Smith. In it judgment delivered to-day his lioiiotir said, in effect, that the mugistriitd who committed Hazlett to Rotoroa exercised his jurisdiction correctly, lhe onlv irregularity in the proceedings was an'omission to ask lluzlett in specked words whether he had any cause to show why tlie order for his detention should Hot bo made. HnzldtUs bail WHS renewed until October 14, by which date it is expected that further proceedings will come before trie court.
