'Dufty, ha<k been suspended during the jpleasure of the New Zealand Rugby League. The trouble arose through - Dufty -not playing in the; recent match against "Auckland for the New Zealand "team which toured Australia. 1 - Dufty, who is recognised as one of the greatest full-backs the game has produced, was given an opportunity to state his case at a meeting ".of the New Zealand Rugby League Thursday evening, the proceedings being; taken in committee. It transpires that Dufty stated he was suffering from injuries and held a doctor’s certificate to that effect. When asked if he were willing to produce the certificate he declined. Five other players, Gregory and Brisbane (Marist), Wetherill and Clarke (City), and Seagar (Devonport) were also called before the New "Zealand League in connection with their actions before the Auckland match. Gregory,Seagar and Clarke eventually. played and Wetherill and Brisbane produced medical certificates stating they were unfit. The explanations of the players were accepted but they were all ;reprimanded.
