FANCY DRESS FOOTBALL

RED CROSS FUNDS AIDED. , The Eltham Red Cross funds will benefit by over £0 as the result of a collection at a fancy dress football match at Tauinata Park, Eltham, on Thursday. The teams consisted of a number of prominent residents, and the varied costumes -provoked much amusement among the spectators. The players formed a procession at the post office and 'marched to the grounds, j.. Heading the teams was a Red Cross Nurse (Mr. P. Gavigan) wheeling in a pram Mr. Tito Gower dressed to represent a baby. Tramps, pierrots, college boys, girls and donkeys were representative of other characters, all of whom were masked. Messrs. William Gower and H. L. Gower acted as referees, the game being declared a draw with 8 points for each side The players were afterwards provided with afternoon tea by members, of the Ideal Red Cross Society.
