A euchre party was held by the Waitara Ladies’ Croquet Club at the pavilion on Thursday afternoon, when seven, tables were occupied. The. first prize was won by Mrs. Davies and a special prize was won by Mrs. Street. ■ - It is reported that Waitara talent will be sought shortly to stage a comedy for a talkie film. . . , On behalf of the Waitara Municipal Band an enjoyable dance was held on Thursday evening. -It was well attended. Martin’s orchestra provided the music and Messrs. E. W. Waters and D. Muschamp were masters of ceremonies. The Waitara Chamber of Commerce meeting discussed the suggestion that the Waitara River would be a suitable port for seaplanes and decided to place the proposal before a company that proposes to inaugurate a service between Auckland and Wellington. The chamber also discussed the proposed cut in the service of the branch railway to Waitara and decided to use every endeavour. to. counteract anything that would be detrimental to the town and district.
